Direct Answer

A subscription URL is not a single node. Add the complete URL to Clash as a profile or provider, refresh it, test global mode first, then diagnose rules and DNS separately. Convert formats only with a service you trust.

Profile, provider, or single node

Paste a full subscription URL into the profile or provider field. Use a protocol URL such as vmess:// or vless:// only in the single-node import flow.

Convert only when required

Clash cannot read every provider format directly. Prefer a provider-native Clash profile; third-party conversion can expose the subscription token.

Separate node and rule failures

Test global mode first. If global works but rule mode fails, keep the node and focus on DNS, rules, and bypass settings.

Use provider health checks deliberately

Mihomo proxy providers can define a refresh interval and a health-check URL, interval, timeout, lazy mode, and expected status. Use conservative intervals instead of continuously probing free nodes.
