Before installing or migrating to Shadowrockets Android, prepare the basics: official download source, Android VPN permission, node or subscription data, speed testing, and backup. The official website is shadowrockets.app.
Step 1: Start from the official site
Use the official English page or the language page that matches your users. Then open the download entry from the official navigation.
Step 2: Understand Android VPN permission
Android VPN permission allows the app to route traffic through a local VPN interface. It is required for many proxy workflows, but it does not replace node configuration. You still need a valid profile or subscription.
Step 3: Import and test nodes
- Import subscription URLs or node profiles from your provider.
- Run a speed or latency test before choosing a long-term node.
- Check whether DNS, routing, and per-app rules match your use case.
Step 4: Keep a recovery path
Save your subscription URL and backup files before changing devices. If the new setup fails, you can restore the old configuration or re-import the subscription without starting from scratch.
